Biography:
Richard L. Caprio – Richie to all those who knew him, at the age of 90, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024, after a short illness. He was born on March 23, 1933, in New Haven, Connecticut and married his beloved wife, Peggy Ann in 1957. Peggy Ann predeceased Richard in 2019. The couple met in Wiesbaden, Germany while Richard was serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and Peggy Ann was visiting relatives. Together they had three sons, Kenneth (Barbara Jean), Carl (Janet) and Christopher (Giane) and three grandchildren, Melissa, Nicole and Christopher and two great grandchildren, Ryan and Emily. Richard was a member of the Carpenters Union and a supervisor of Circle Industries in Manhattan for 40 years. One of his proudest accomplishments was being one of the original founders and active member of the Dunwoodie Youth Association in Yonkers, NY. He served as president of this organization for many years and helped introduce a love of sports to many boys and girls from the Dunwoodie area of Yonkers. After retiring Richard and Peggy Ann moved to Boynton Beach, Florida where they enjoyed the beautiful weather and Richard pursued his golfing hobby and eventually worked part time at a local golf course until they returned to Yonkers, NY in 2017. Richie will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew him. Arrangements entrusted to FLOWER FUNERAL HOME INC., 714 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers with a funeral mass Friday March 22, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Ann`s Church followed by an interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. www.FlowerFH.com.
